Learning and recognising the letters of the alphabet are the building blocks of reading and forming words and sentences. Here, the letters of the alphabet are introduced through a clear and simple format: recognise, read and trace.
The simple tracing exercises help your child to recognise and remember the letters. Encourage your child to complete the activity pages.
Expand your child's vocabulary by pointing out the words that begin with each letter in these pages. Work alongside your child to say the letters and words, identify and name things, and link them to the correct letters that the words begin with. So, practice is important! Review pages are created to extend the learning beyond basic writing through fun activities. These teach the child to apply what has been learnt which builds up confidence.
The Learning Journal introduces simple responsibility. Encourage your child to track his/her progress by colouring a star whenever he/she completes a topic. Explain that doing this also helps to show
that he/she has reached a goal! Oh, and don't forget to award your child with the Certificate of
Achievement for completing all the writing goals and working on all the activity pages. Encouragement and praise often boost children's confidence and will surely motivate them and fuel their desire to learn!
