Learning phonics encourages your child to use the relationship between letters and sounds to speak and write words. Here, the letter-sound correspondences are introduced through a clear and simple format commonly called SATPIN. This allows your child to mix and match the letters and their sounds to make simple words.
Other letter-sound correspondences follow once these six letter sounds are taught.
The simple practice and exercises help your child to recognise and remember the letters and their sounds. Encourage your child to complete the practice and writing pages. Practice is important!
Review pages are created to extend the learning beyond basic practice and writing through fun activities. These teach the child to apply what has been learnt which builds up confidence.
The Learning Journa/ introduces simple responsibility. Encourage your child to track his/her progress by colouring a star whenever he/she completes a topic. Explain that doing this also helps to show that he/she has reached a goal! Oh, and don't forget to award your child with the Certificate of Achievement for completing all the writing goals and working
on all the activity pages. Encouragement and praise often boost children's confidence and will surely motivate them and fuel their desire to learn!
